For a couple of weeks now we have filmed the Hedgehogs going through the courtship phase of there relationship, Finally on the 3rd May they started mating and we were lucky enough to get it on camera.
Got the settings right on the camera this time and filmed the hedgehogs and a cat looking at them we also caught the courtship between two hedgehogs. Very pleased with the footage, We have put the camera out again in the hope that we get some love action between the hedgehogs.
The Hedgehogs have finally started visiting our garden, We have had the trail camera out foe over a week and not had any luck capturing any video of them, so I decided to set the camera to take still images every few seconds and sure enough we got photos of the hedgehogs, First off the was one then a second appeared.
I need to find out if Hedgehogs are territorial because at one point one of the Hedgehogs charge and push the other out of the way.
Went out looking for the Hedgehog this evening but no sign of him, that's three nights now we havent seen him, hope he's ok and returns soon, We have put out some mealworms along with his regular food.
I took my camera out with a light and took a few photos of things crawling around, Most are bad shots but these two are the best.
A quick video of the Hedgehog before it started raining, You can see the spikes on the Hedgehog raise as it realises I'm watching him before he runs off. He'll be back to finish of his food.
I went out tonight to feed the hedgehogs and within a few minutes of putting the food out I could hear something working it's way up to the garden. I went over to have a look and saw the hedgehog coming, so I quickly crouched down and set the camera recording. Managed to get this before I had to move as I was crouched on some nettles, worth the pain though.
Sat out in the garden again tonight, Started watching the bats when I heard a sound by the swing, So I crept up slowly & quietly and filmed the hedgehog.
Note: The hedgehog came back a few minutes later to feed on some peanuts.
