Whilst searching for my favorite bugs the Shield bugs I came across this strange looking bug, I'm not sure what it is till I get it identified on iSpot.org.uk. I got a few shots of it and these are the best ones and I got a shot of the Shield Bug I was looking for.
The bug I found in our garden has been identified as a Caddisfly (Stenophylax) Adrian I just happened to spot not one but two Green Shield bugs on one of our Blackcurrant bushes today and then in the same place a large Caterpillar, I'm not sure at this stage what the Caterpillar is I will put it up on iSpot.org.uk to try and get an ID for it.
More information on the Shield bug can be found here. http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/heteroptera/Pentatomidae/palomena_prasina.html Adrian Yesterday there where lots of bugs flying around our flower bed so I decided to get the camera out and try to film them instead of just photographing them. When shooting macro the depth of field gets narrower so you have to get your focus on one point and hope the insects land there, Well that's what I did anyway. I filmed this clip on my Lumix GX-1 with the 14-42 power zoom lens and attached a +10 macro lens filter to the end of the lens. I do need to experiment with this as shooting macro videos is new to me, I am quite pleased with a couple of the shots in this clip. Hope you find it interesting.
Adrian We've had another visit to our butterfly feeding station another Speckled Wood, Today was sunny and warm and our flower beds where very active with hoverflies and I spotted a green flat bug that is a first sighting in our garden and I have still to identify it.
Adrian A couple more shot of a moth and a Hornet wasp both have not been identified yet but as soon as I do I'll add the correct names. I did see a large Hoverfly but I didn't have my camera on me, someone on twitter said is could have been a Drone Fly.
Adrian Wasp is a Solitary Wasp (Ectemnius) Moth is an Angle Shades Moth Well it's a bit disappointing, I didn't see much this year appart from the bug in the first picture of my last post the usual snails & slugs and a small black hover fly. The photos I took aren't that good but I will still put them up later.
The photos taken on the 13th are now below. Just been going through my photos again and decided to get all the photos I took in our garden on 13th August 2011 and put them up here, Then on the 13th August this year I will see what creatures I can photograph and then we can compare what we saw last year to what we will see this year. So this should be Interesting, I hope.
Adrian Found this little bug in our nettle patch near the pond this morning, Very accommodating it was too while I took it's photo. I have no Idea what type of bug it is til I do a bit of searching. Till then it's known as a Nettle Bug. :-) Identified as a Mirid bug nymph (Deraeocoris flavilinea) via ispot.org.uk |
