Last year we put out a ladle that we would use to attract the butterflies by putting sugar water and fruit in it but we never did get any come to visit. This year though we had wasps visit it so I kept putting out the sugar water and filmed the wasps drinking, In the end more and more wasps started to visit, More than we wanted so we have now decided not to put any sugar water out and the wasps have slowly disappeared. Here is a video of them feeding.

A couple more shot of a moth and a Hornet wasp both have not been identified yet but as soon as I do I'll add the correct names. I did see a large Hoverfly but I didn't have my camera on me, someone on twitter said is could have been a Drone Fly.
Adrian Wasp is a Solitary Wasp (Ectemnius) Moth is an Angle Shades Moth Well it's a bit disappointing, I didn't see much this year appart from the bug in the first picture of my last post the usual snails & slugs and a small black hover fly. The photos I took aren't that good but I will still put them up later.
The photos taken on the 13th are now below. |
