I ID'd these as something else but I don't have my ID chart to hand at the moment so I can't say what I thought they where. I've seen 2 of these in the garden so far. Here is a link to what they are at britishbugs.org.uk

I headed out into the garden at night a few weeks back to photograph the insects that come out, It is remarkable what nature can create and the wide range of insects you will find in your garden.
With all the cats roaming around our area we often see dead mice nearby, But the other day while Oliver was playing in his little compostarium he came across a dead wood mouse, This wood mouse had not been attacked by any cats but had just given up and died where it was.
Last year we put out a ladle that we would use to attract the butterflies by putting sugar water and fruit in it but we never did get any come to visit. This year though we had wasps visit it so I kept putting out the sugar water and filmed the wasps drinking, In the end more and more wasps started to visit, More than we wanted so we have now decided not to put any sugar water out and the wasps have slowly disappeared. Here is a video of them feeding. Young Blackbird found in a neighbours garden, We took it to our garden where the mother came and fed it, The young chick then hopped away into another neighbours garden where they are keeping an eye on it, the mother keeps coming back to feed it. Yesterday we came across a bee that looked like it was exhausted so I decided to mix up some sugar water and see if it would drink some, I was surprised to see it drink as quick as it did. Here is a video of it. Sorry for the shaking and drifting focus but I had Oliver jumping on my back at the time as well. :-) Oliver spotted 3 frogs in our little pond today the most we have seen this year so far and I spotted a caterpillar on our plum tree not sure of the ID just yet.
For a couple of weeks now we have filmed the Hedgehogs going through the courtship phase of there relationship, Finally on the 3rd May they started mating and we were lucky enough to get it on camera. |
