One thing we have never had is a bird bath installed, we have talked about it for quite a while but it's just one of those things that we have not got round to putting in, we have 2 little ponds but I've never seen the birds drink or bathe in them. Yesterday we decided to make a makeshift bird bath and set up the trail camera, so we got a small cat litter tray filled it with water and put a flat stone in it so it wasn't too deep and set the camera up and waited. We had 3 visits from a female Blackbird and a Jay, neither had a bath, the blackbird had a drink and the Jay just looked straight at the camera.

I attached a +2 macro lens filter to our Ltl Acorn camera and put it out today and spread some seed on the ground to get some close up shots of the birds feeding on the ground, The birds that came today were Chaffinch, Robin, Blackbirds, Dunnock, Collared Dove and Blue tit.
We took delivery of a Ltl Acorn 6210 trail camera before christmas, Here is a short video test of what we filmed the other day. The video was filmed in 1280 x 720 HD, But this camera saves the video at about 5 Mbits per second so the resulting HD video is lacking some detail and looks better at half the size at 640 x 360, It would be better if it saved the video at around 10 Mbits per second, something I'm going to look into.
Below the video is a still from the HD video. Adrian |
